What was McCain thinking?

advertisement

John McCain decided to enter Bill Ayers name into this political race for President of the United States. I do not know who was the brains behind this choice. This is his third and fatal mistake that should cost him the election. His first was when he selected Sarah Palin as his VP. She will only get him the white female conservative vote that he already had. Liberal white women and black women are not going to give McCain enough votes to help him. Mistake number two was when he said,"the fundamentals of the economy are strong". When he entered Bill Ayers into the mix he opened up the door for the Keating 5, Iran Contra scandal, and now a comparison to George Wallace. Now you have Republicans who have allowed people to think Obama is a terrorist are upset because a democrat is calling McCain a racist. Let's look at why Rep. Lewis made these comments. McCain represents the only state that does not honor Dr.. King's holiday(McCain voted against it), he referred to Obama as "that one"(which is deemed a racial insult in the black community when coming from someone white), and over the last week his rallies have taken on the tone of Klan rallies from the 60's. You have his supporters yelling out kill him and he is a terrorist what do you expect people to think. If you make references about a black man, with an African name in this country common sense will tell you that you are playing with fire. I truly believe that there is some truth to Rep. Lewis's comment, and the funny part that is about to happen is that he will back down from his comments. Lewis needs to stick by his comments that he made. McCain set himself up for this. He could have stuck with comparisons to Rev. Wright, or Tony Rezco(sp). That would be fair and it would not insight racial discourse. Rather he meant it or not that is what McCain has done. For me and others this continues in line with a series of actions that make me question John McCain's judgment. I want to conclude that if they are going to compare Obama to Ayers then they need to have the courage to call him a terrorist or let it go. I am an Obama supporter, but if he is indeed a terrorist then he should be in jail and not running for office. If that is what the McCain believes then he should be the maverick he claims to be and insist that Obama be dealt with. Every time he continues these attacks he is putting Obama's life in jeopardy. You don't have to like Obama, but I would hope people do not want to see harm done to him. At the end of the day McCain forgot that sometimes the most important color in this country is Green.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

jandrew, your tone is much that of the brother of a jantoinette, who would also insist that Rep. Lewis hit the one "Money-Nerve" in this nation. Do you know how much this nation loss when 14th Street, Washington, DC was burned to a riotous hell, when folk rushed across the Hershey School Wall at 18th and Columbia Road in Philadelphia, when Oakland was placed under martial law, when Newark looked like Saigon, when Watts was covered with blood...oh yes! The color is green!

What kind of money could we borrow from China if we are all in the streets as if the History of France had returned with a vengeance?

McCain is not the man for this time...he called Jerry Falwell an agent of intolerance, then embraced his evil hatred of anyone different by sight. He has real ties to Iran, Radio-Hanoi, and several other very questionable groups... he and Plain live in a glass house...

In 2000 i might have voted for McCain in hopes he would stop voting against Head-Start, WIC, Medicaid, FAMIS, and other Children's Programs but he now has shown a lack of sound mind, lack of judgement and a temperament ill-suited for the office of President of These United States of America.

    Metonitoo,

What is the purpose of your response? Did you read my article? At what point did I say I was a supporter of McCain. What makes you think I need a lesson from you on regarding the civil rights movement and other historical events relative to that point. If you do not get my points or where I am coming from then maybe you need a lesson in history.  Where did I say we should borrow money from China. My reference to green was my way of saying that at this time in our country most people don't care about black or white. They care about the color of money and that is green.
